Thank you so much for this post. I've recently had to take a step back from social media as it pulls me in so many different directions with people posting stunning locations and places to visit.
Staying in one spot is difficult for me at times but I really got in my head about all the things I was missing out on seeing and forgot to be grateful and enjoy the things I have right now.
Travelling, I didn’t even think of that but you’re totally right, it can be really hard to feel like you’re missing out on exploring new and beautiful places. How has it felt to pull back from the socials? Are there places closer to home you’ve never seen before?
I can definitely relate to a lot of what you wrote Aleesha. Thank you for expressing your thoughts so eloquently. Definitely gave me some food for thought :)
Thank you for reading :) I hope it’s not shame-producing, as that’s never my intention. I know I struggle to find a balance, and find myself feeling shame and guilt at times.
Yes! I read somewhere that an antidote to discontentment is to say 'there is nowhere else I'd rather be than here'. It sounds trite but I've been doing it and it helps me appreciate what I do have and that despite the mess and the noise this very imperfect family and home is what I was dreaming of years ago.
It is simple, but can really bring perspective that often, we are living in the dream that we hoped for, even when it’s not perfect! I said to my husband the other day that one day, we’re going to look back at this time with so much fondness and nostalgia, but you don’t know that when you’re in the midst of it
